Now that 16 states have legalized marijuana for medical use, a California-based company is opening weGrow garden centers that cater to people who wish to grow their own weed. According to Reuters, the 21,000-square-foot store offers approximately 2,000 products, such as soil, grow lights and irrigation trays that promote the best growing conditions for cannabis. It does not, however, sell the plant itself.
The store also has a resident doctor who gives eligible patients the initial medical approval they need to apply for permission to grow their own “medicine.” The number of illnesses treated with marijuana is quite long. They include genital herpes, chronic viral hepatitis (B and C), adult onset diabetes, schizophrenia, autism, major depression, lupus, a variety of cancers (i.e., skin cancer, melanoma, lymphoma, malignant brain tumors, etc.) and chronic pain, to name a very few.
Dhar Mann, founder of weGrow, has opened centers in Oakland and Sacramento, CA, and Phoenix, AZ. He will soon open one in the District of Columbia.
