Have you considered earning your "daily bread" by wearing T-shirts? Jason Sadler, an ingenious entrepreneur based in Jacksonville, FL, did. He now makes a six-figure salary. In 2009, Sadler launched I Wear Your Shirt, offering social media and wearable ads to clients who might not otherwise have time or money for it.
A web designer and marketer, he and his four employees wear shirts with the client logo all day long. They also post promotional information on Twitter and Facebook, and make wacky YouTube videos that introduce viewers to the client's business. They reach 100,000 people a day.
Sadler's pricing model is quite unconventional. Each year on Jan. 1, $5 pays for five people to wear a shirt, make videos, tweet and post on Facebook. Every day after that, the price goes up $5. By Dec. 31, those same services cost $1,825.
Interestingly, I Wear Your Shirt does not promote just any business. "I use my grandmother filter," says the young marketer. He will not advertise alcohol, tobacco or pornography.
Each year, Sadler hires a different group of contract employees at $35,000 each. "I want to get fresh faces," he told CNBC. "It gets repetitive after a while." Prospects must be good at editing video; they have to be hard working; "and they have to be awesome," says Sadler. He would even like to hire a video-savvy grandmother.
